Handpainted silk cushion cover

It's begun. My painting genie has been reignited and has been painting this past weekend and I'm soooooo happy :-)

I have painted silk charmeuse for a cushion cover in turquoise and purple, as shown below:


Below you can see a close-up of one side of the cushion cover:

The cushion covers will be available to buy on my website in a range of vibrant colours.

I also handpainted two pieces of silk twill - the photo below shows the 36"/90cm full width, and the piece is actually 45" long.



The photo below shows a second piece of silk twill - also 36"/90cm full width, and 45" long.



This next piece below is a combo of the same fibre-reactive dyes in turquoise, lime green, purple and hot pink. The crinkle cotton fabric is 40" wide and 90" long.

Fabric: silk charmeuse, silk twill, crinkle cotton
Dyes: Drimarene K fiber-reactive
Outlines: Cold wax

I am very pleased with these handpainted textiles I've just created in my new Studio :-)

Hand-spun woven cotton hat

My friend Lili in New York state is amazing!


She is such a clever possum - she does her own spinning of fibres and makes wonderful things. This week I collected a package from the post office - Lili sent me some handmade goodies! Here's what she wrote:

The cap is hand spun cotton and blue jean fiber mixed.
I carded the cotton and blue jean fiber together, and then spun it into yarn. then i crocheted it up.

The scarf is commercial yarn ...

The hat is perfect as we're heading into cold weather already here Downunder. The black and bright blue scarf is fabulous - perfect colours as I wear black most days in winter and just add some bright colours for a dash of panache.

Aren't I lucky to have such wonderful friends around the world? Lili and I have never met - we started writing through info on one of her web pages way back in February 2003, and here we are - 5 years later, still writing :-)
